Message from the CEO (Acting)
e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited (e-LJam) brings a new dynamic to teaching through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s). The first project, launched in 2006, provided computer and multimedia technologies in the high schools and teachers’ colleges, trained teachers and lecturers in the integration of these technologies into the teaching/learning processes and developed digital learning resources. The second project, the Tablets In Schools (TIS) provides access anytime, anywhere.
The Tablets in Schools pilot project, launched in 2013, incorporated early childhood, primary, high schools and a Teachers College. The project provided tablet computer devices and educational Apps to all students and teachers in the pilot institutions.
These innovative projects are implemented in collaboration with our parent Ministry, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) along with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MOEYI) and the Universal Service Fund (USF) and are geared to assist in preparing students to be competitive in today’s workforce by providing opportunities to learn vital skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration and digital literacy.
It is my wish that all the beneficiaries, schools, parents and the wider community embrace this opportunity to become 21st-century citizens and contribute positively toward national development.
